A Taste of Bordeaux Saint-Émilion’s Elegance

A touch of French elegance graced the Tampines Pre-Function Room on a balmy Saturday evening, 26 August 2023.

The occasion was none other than the highly anticipated Wine Appreciation Masterclass cum pairing dinner, featuring exquisite French wines from the famed Bordeaux Saint-Émilion region.

This captivating evening marked the much-awaited third session of the resounding masterclass that was debut on May 31, 2022. With enthusiastic feedback from Members, the Club organised another session on 20 July 2022, just two months after the first successful run.

This year, more than 50 Members gathered to embark on an enchanting journey to explore the rich history of The Jurade de Saint-Émilion and savour the exquisiteness of the Bordeaux Saint-Émilion’s finest wine selections.

To unveil the evening’s enigma, each participant was greeted with a glass of Les Cordeliers, Crémant de Bordeaux 2016.

For nearly two hours, participants were not just spectators; they were students of the art of wine appreciation. The guest speaker, TMCC Member Melvin Choo, Chancellor of the Jurade (Singapore), provided insights into the wines and their pairings.

Participants had a flight of five different Bordeaux wines to taste and going with that was an extraordinary culinary showcase that seamlessly melded Western and Asian influences. 

The buffet dinner menu was a tapestry of flavours that mirrored the wines’ complexity.

The Mixed Mesclun Potato Salad welcomed the evening with vibrant freshness. The Roasted Meat Skewers, Beef Tomahawk, Lamb Boneless Leg, and Honey Ham graced the table as main courses, their aromas tantalising the senses.

Adding a touch of allure, the live brochettes of Chicken Tikka and Sherried Chicken served alongside Mango Wild Rice turned the dinner and wine pairing into a unifying experience.

It was evident that the interplay between wines’ profiles and culinary nuances had created an experience that lingered on palates and in the memories of all the Members.
