Twelve-year-old Seunghan Lee, a junior member of Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC), has recently delivered an impressive performance at the 2024 SGA-BFG Grand Final Championship. Held on 10 December at Sentosa Golf Club’s Tanjong Course, Seunghan posted an outstanding 6-under-par score to secure first place. This remarkable victory not only earned him the championship title but also crowned him as the 2024 Junior Order of Merit Champion in the Boys B Division.
The SGA Junior Grand Final Championship is part of the larger SGA-BFG Junior Golf Series, a collaborative effort between the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) and BFG Golf. This series provides a platform for budding junior golfers to showcase their talents and compete against peers of similar age and ability. Spanning from February to December, the dynamic circuit features over 30 events across prestigious golf courses in Singapore. With age categories ranging from A (12-14), B (9-11), to C (5-8), the SGA-BFG Junior Golf Series welcomes young golfers at various stages of their development, helping them hone their skills and gain competitive experience.
Seunghan’s success is a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work he has put into his game over the years, training under TMCC’s Golf Junior Programme (JGP). The JGP, designed for children of Members aged 7 to 16, consists of a 15-week training session each term. The programme focuses on fundamental movement and sport-specific skills, offering juniors the opportunity to develop valuable life skills and values through golf in a supportive and challenging environment.
His mother, Angela Lee, expressed her gratitude for the personalised guidance provided by Coach Justin Tang. “Coach Justin did not rely on a one-size-fits-all teaching approach. Instead, he studied Seunghan’s swing style and shot tendencies, tailoring his coaching methods to suit Seunghan’s unique needs,” she said.
Under his coaching, Seunghan has made significant strides in his game. His driving distance has improved, his iron accuracy has sharpened, and his short game has become more precise. Perhaps most importantly, Seunghan’s mindset, manners, and ability to handle challenging situations have all reached new levels.
Angela Lee also extended her thanks to Tanah Merah Country Club for providing Seunghan with an environment that has fostered his growth and development. “We are truly grateful for Coach Justin’s dedication and expertise, which have played a key role in Seunghan’s progress both as a golfer and as a person,” she said.
Seunghan Lee’s achievements are a testament to his perseverance, the expert guidance he has received, and the nurturing environment at TMCC. We look forward to following his journey and seeing even more success as he continues to grow in his golfing stint. Congratulations to Seunghan on his exceptional achievements!
