With many of the undulating greens found on TMCC’s courses – Tampines in particular – we very often find ourselves chipping onto an uphill putting surface.
Here are a few simple pointers on how you can simplify this shot.
The setup is integral to performing this short properly. Place your feet about one and a half to two clubhead widths apart (Pic 1).
Position the ball towards the heel of your forward foot (Pic 2).

Angle the shaft so that it points straight up, not leaning forward or backwards, in respect to the ground line (Pic 3).
On the backswing, form an L with the shaft and your arm (Pic 4 and 4a).
Correspondingly, as you swing through the ball, reform the L shape on the finish (Pic 5 and 5a).
Follow these simple steps and you’ll have no problem hitting those soft, high shots onto the green and getting it close to the flag.
