On the evening of Wednesday, 6 November 2024, 30 TMCC Members were treated to an unforgettable experience of culinary and vinous excellence at the Gourmet Food & Wine Pairing Experience: An Exquisite Evening with the Chancellor of the Jurade de Saint-Émilion.
Held at the intimate and elegant Garden Lounge, this Members’ exclusive event offered a rare opportunity to indulge in the renowned wines of Bordeaux’s prestigious Saint-Émilion region, expertly paired with a sensational Chinese fusion dining experience.
Unlike the more formal Wine Appreciation Masterclasses of the past, this event embraced a casual and intimate atmosphere. Members took the chance to engage in lively conversation, ask questions, and enjoy a relaxed evening of fine wine and gourmet cuisine.
The evening was graced by TMCC General Committee Member Mel Choo, Chancellor of the Jurade de Saint-Émilion (Singapore), who shared his deep knowledge and passion for the rich history of the Saint-Émilion wine region.
As Mel provided fascinating insights into the traditions and winemaking expertise that have made Saint-Émilion one of the world’s most celebrated wine regions. His engaging presentation helped Members better appreciate the nuances of the wines they were tasting, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.
Members were treated to a carefully curated selection of Saint-Émilion wines, each thoughtfully paired with a six-course Chinese fusion menu. With both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available, the culinary offerings combined the rich flavours of traditional Chinese ingredients with modern twists, ensuring a harmonious balance between food and wine.
The event highlighted the elegance of Saint-Émilion wines and the art of food and wine pairing, offering TMCC Members an extraordinary experience that blended the heritage of Bordeaux with the innovation of contemporary Chinese cuisine. It was a night of indulgence, learning, and camaraderie — one that will undoubtedly be remembered as a true highlight of the TMCC calendar.
