It was a typical Tuesday morning at Tampines, with members out on course and the Clubhouse operating as usual, when routine activity briefly gave way to a coordinated emergency response exercise.
At around 10:00am on 9 June 2026, a scheduled fire drill was conducted across the clubhouse precinct. The exercise was carried out in compliance with the Fire Safety Act and prevailing Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) fire safety requirements, as well as SGSecure preparedness guidelines. While play on the Tampines Course continued uninterrupted, the drill simulated an emergency scenario within the clubhouse areas.
The fire alarm sounded as planned, immediately prompting a structured response. Public address announcements guided occupants to remain calm and proceed to the designated assembly point, while staff moved quickly to key locations to direct flow and ensure an orderly evacuation.
Orderly Response Across the Clubhouse
Staff acting as fire wardens and safety marshals led members, visitors, and employees towards the designated Fire Assembly Point at the carpark near the putting green and 10th Tee.
The exercise focused on core elements of emergency readiness, including:
- Speed and clarity of alarm activation and communication
- Staff coordination and crowd management
- Smooth evacuation flow and discipline under instruction
Despite being a simulated exercise, the response was prompt and orderly, reflecting familiarity with established procedures.
The drill was confined to the clubhouse precinct, including the Golf Office, Buggy Staging Area, Function Room, and Tampines Golfers Lounge.
Golf operations on the Tampines Course continued as normal throughout. Temporary adjustments were made during the exercise:
- Golf Office services were briefly suspended
- Food and beverage operations at the Tampines Golfers Lounge and Terrace were temporarily paused
All services resumed shortly after the exercise concluded at approximately 10:30am.
Reinforcing Preparedness in Daily Operations
While routine in nature, the exercise served as a timely reminder that preparedness is part of everyday operations, not only emergency situations. It allowed staff and users to remain familiar with procedures in a live operating environment.
Such drills are part of ongoing SGSecure efforts to strengthen readiness, improve coordination, and ensure a calm, structured response in the event of an emergency.
Commitment to Member Safety
Management extended its appreciation to all members, visitors, and staff for their cooperation and understanding during the exercise.
A pre-drill briefing exercise was conducted with key personnel from Golf Operations, F&B Operations, the Facility Team, and key operational executives to ensure alignment on roles, responsibilities, and response procedures prior to the exercise.
Members remain at the heart of the Club, and there is a continued commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of all who use the facilities.
Members and visitors are reminded to stay vigilant and to follow instructions promptly should any emergency arise.
