We have heard of the decathlon and heptathlon in athletics. That’s 10 events for men and seven events for women.

Gleaning an idea from the multi-event sport, Tanah Merah Country Club organised a 2-day Discovery Kids’ Camp – on May 29 and 30, where 17 children engaged in several sports and recreational activities ranging from archery, football, bowling, rock climbing to an egg drop challenge.
Time was always at hand because it was the school holidays and staging it on a Monday and Tuesday meant there was little distraction.
All participants received a camp T-shirt and a fun pack. Lunch and refreshments were also provided on both days.
Safety was the top priority, and the camp began with a briefing on this important aspect. After the teams were segregated, there was an ice-breaker activity followed by the egg drop challenge. The children broke up for lunch then and enjoyed the archery event at the multi-purpose courts.
There was a special Amazing Race event followed by splashing good times in the turquoise waters of the newly enhanced Kids’ Pool to round off the first day.
The second day began with football, and it was an easy introduction as almost all the kids played the universal game.
Lunch was followed by bowling at the National Service Resort Country Club.
The children were then transported to Tampines Hub for a hearty rock-climbing activity at the Rock School and their tiring efforts were rewarded with treats of McDonald’s Oreo McFlurry ice cream.
The group was enjoying the event so much that the organisers decided on a surprise carnival game (not part of the original itinerary), the element added to ramp up the fun for the participants.
The camp ended with a sumptuous farewell dinner back at the Club and the children had an enjoyable time filled with fun and learning.
