The attractive incentive of an invitation to the prestigious Champions Dinner Annual Prize Presentation on Nov 3 drew a significant number of participants to the TMCC Senior Competition.
A total of 45 players competed in TMCC’s 2nd Senior Strokeplay Championship, consisting of Men’s and Ladies’ Senior and Super Senior division.
Despite the age requirement of over 50 years, the two-day 36 hole competition was fiercely contested with each player demonstrating passion and determination to excel on the course.
Round 1 was played at Garden Course, players were greeted on the 1st and 10th tees with refreshments including isotonic drinks, water, apples and bananas.
Despite adverse weather conditions disrupting the second day of play at Tampines Course, thankfully all competitors completed just after 7pm in the fading light.
Raymond Lee winner of the inaugural Men’s Senior Strokeplay emerged victorious, retaining the Men’s Senior Strokeplay Championship trophy with a gross 150.
Masaru Hamada clinched the Men’s Senior Division title with a score of 152, three shots ahead of Tan Lee Hong.
In the Ladies’ division, after narrowly losing in a play-off last year, Norlia Embong was able to go one step further this year securing yet another victory, adding to her long list of accolades as a distinguished multi-club champion. Norlia shot a respectable gross 165 over two days.
