To many golfing fans, it is a big catch.
In fact, it is one of Singapore golf’s biggest adoptions.
For James Leow is the hottest property currently among the local golfing professionals.
So, the management and members of TMCC are overjoyed that the club has adopted Leow — and would be helping him in his fledgling professional career.
Playing facilities aside – during a period when it is so difficult for professionals to gain time slots, or even to train – TMCC will allow Leow to use the club’s other facilities to help him raise his game to a new level.
It is a significant gesture by TMCC to sign on Leow who has the potential to make it big on the regional scene.
Said Club Captain Dr Goh Hoon Pur: “It is a tremendous gesture by TMCC to sign on Leow who has the potential to make it big on the regional scene. The club has a philosophy to help raise the standard of local golfers by any means. We feel that investing in James is a major positive move. He has the ability and talent to take his game to a new regional level.”
James’ illustrious journey began when he demonstrated his remarkable skills on the golf course at a young age, leading to a scholarship at the prestigious Arizona State University (ASU).
Known for producing renowned golfers like Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson, ASU became the platform where James won major US Collegiate and Amateur tournaments, including the 2022 Thunderbird Collegiate and Pacific Coast Amateur titles.
His record as the 2019 SEA Games gold medalist remains one of the prominent highlights of his career.
He was also the best Singapore performer at the International Series Singapore held at the Tampines course in 2022, securing the 31st place.

His global recognition came when he achieved the 43rd rank in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Leow continued to make Singapore proud as he led the team to its best-ever result at the Nomura Cup, winning both team and individual silver medals.
His performance was a testament to his prowess, which shone brightly when he represented Team International and clinched victory against the US at the prestigious Palmer Cup.
As a recipient of the spexScholarship programme by Sports SG, he stands as a beacon of hard work and perseverance.
A beaming Leow said: “It’s an honour and privilege to be a sponsored ambassador at Tanah Merah Country Club. I’m grateful to the club for the support and opportunity to pursue my golfing career.
“I’m blessed to have special access to two superb 18-hole golf courses (Tampines and Garden) with beautiful clubhouses and practice facilities that will help with my tournament preparations as well as improve my personal game.”
“It brings me great pleasure to be part of the TMCC’s community and I can’t wait to get to know everyone and golf with my fellow members.”
Club President Ronald Ong said: “While the move to sign on James Leow is on an individual basis, the club has often looked into helping the golfing community at large.”
“We have several initiatives to promote and nurture the love for golf in the community and will continue to do so on a wider scale. Leow’s presence will be a tremendous boost to our members and will be a case study that inspires new generations of golfers.”
