From 10 – 12 April 2023, TMCC organised a 3-day Occupational First Aid Training course for its staff. The course was conducted by trainers from the Singapore Emergency Responder Academy (SERA), which is known for providing quality first- aid training to individuals and organisations.
The objective of the course was to equip the staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide first aid to adult casualties and use the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively in the workplace. The course was aligned with the guidelines and methods stipulated by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC).
The importance of first aid training cannot be overstated. In the event of an accident or emergency, employees who have received first aid training can provide effective treatment not only for members, guests, and colleagues but also for their loved ones and even the broader public. For emergencies such as cardiac arrest, having knowledgeable individuals who can respond quickly and effectively can provide a comforting level of assurance to those affected and help to minimize any chaos while awaiting the arrival of the Emergency Medical Team.

Furthermore, acquiring first aid training makes employees more conscious of workplace safety, resulting in a reduction on workplace related accidents and injuries. This brings benefits to everyone involved by minimizing worker risk and decreasing workplace accidents.
The course not only provided the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to administer first aid but also instilled in them the confidence to handle emergencies competently without giving in to fear, confusion, or stress. This is crucial in an emergency, where quick thinking and action can mean the difference between life and death.
Overall, TMCC’s Occupational First Aid Training course was a success, and the staff members who participated are now equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide effective first aid in the club. Three more sessions are organised in the following months to cater for more staff.
