As always, Tanah Merah Country Club keeps its pioneering spirit in most of what it does.
The Club has scored many firsts, such as the staging of first-time Asian Tour event, the push for eco-friendly endeavours and engaging Olympic Games swimmers to its fabulous Olympic-size pool.
Now, it is the first club among locals to introduce an e-sports facility, called the “E-Zone”.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on 27 May at 4pm, during which H&R Convenor, Chris Chiu, gave an opening speech at the opening.
Gathered were many Members, some of whom are gaming enthusiasts who enjoyed catching a glimpse of this immersive space.
During the official launch, participants had a tour of the E-Zone and underwent an introduction to Esports and its latest development in the region.
Participants also underwent a short induction on how to set up and register gaming accounts such as Steam and Riot accounts.
The Steam Account is a game and social account that allows you to access any game developed by Steam, some popular ones being Counterstrike, DOTA and Left 4 Dead while the Riot Account is a game account that allows you to access any game developed by Riot Games, the popular ones include League of Legends and VALORANT.
A 3-on-3 Valorant friendly tournament was also organised for Members to have a first-hand experience of the gaming gears and immersive space.
After three intense rounds, it came down to a sudden-death match, and the winning individual walked away with e-Vouchers, which can be used to unlock in-game currency to purchase weapon skins and unlock new agents on the Steam account.
Esports is gaining popularity in Singapore fast, and the Republic recently made its mark on the international stage by winning its first SEA Games e-sports gold medal.
The E-Zone will provide Members with a new pursuit, bringing together avid and budding gamers from diverse backgrounds to indulge in the excitement of competitive gaming.
